The Bellands have been making wine in Santenay since 1839, for six generations. Julie Belland took over from her father Roger, inheriting not just vines but a philosophy: sustainable farming, hand-harvesting, meticulous sorting in the vineyard. The kind of old-school Burgundy winemaking that's becoming increasingly rare.
“This is one of the most important domaines in this sector of the Côte,” wrote Jasper Morris MW. The late Clive Coates MW once called the Bellands “one of the best sources in the village.”
The 2022 vintage saw 30% whole bunches, cold maceration for complexity, and aging in French oak (20% new) for 12 months. The result? It’s ruby-purple in the glass, with generous red fruit framed by delicate minerality and silky, refined tannins that make this approachable now but built to age beautifully through 2032.
