Starshipit takes the opposite position to a rates marketplace. It does not resell freight or take a cut of your shipments. You connect the courier accounts you already hold, and Starshipit automates everything after that. Founded in Auckland in 2014, it is used by more than 30,000 retailers and connects to more than 60 couriers, including Australia Post, NZ Post, DHL Express, Aramex and CouriersPlease, alongside Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Amazon. Its core is automation rules that choose a courier and service for each order, then print labels, packing slips and customs documents in bulk and send branded tracking. Plans run from $45 a month for 100 labels to $495 a month for 10,000, in AUD, with a 30-day free trial.
Gifting signal
Automation rules are the gifting lever. If your gift orders carry a Shopify tag, check with Starshipit whether a rule can send them on a faster service, print a different packing slip, or change who gets tracking messages. Starshipit sends tracking by SMS and email, so decide who hears from it on a gift order before peak. A recipient should hear about the gift from the gifter or the brand before a courier text tells them a parcel is coming.

Watch out
Starshipit does not store, pick or pack stock, so it complements fulfilment rather than replacing it. It assumes you hold your own courier accounts, so a brand without negotiated rates should compare the total cost against a rates marketplace such as Shippit. Check who receives tracking texts and emails on gift orders before you switch them on. Plans are capped by labels a month, with extra labels charged on top, so model the cost at December volume rather than an average month.
